Of Revere formerly of Everett passed away April 4, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Lorrain (Aubrey) Evans. Devoted son of the late John and Elsie (Earp) Evans. Dear Uncle of Judith King of Everett, George Maden of ME, Robert Maden of CT, John Evans of NH and Charles Evans of CA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the JF Ward Funeral Home, 772 Broadway, Everett on Tuesday, April 10 th from 11-12 PM.
Robert attended Naval Training Station in Sampson, NY and Naval Radio School at Northwestern University, Evanstown, IL. He served in World II 1944-1946 aboard the USS Vogelgesang - Atlantic Theater. Bob married Lorraine Aubrey, Feb. 27, 1949 and then served in Korea 1951-1952 aboard the USS Adirondack - Naples, Italy, and the USS Shangrila - Boston, MA. Upon completion of his naval service, he worked at Pan Am Airlines in flight operations. After retirement from Pan Am he worked flight operations for various charter flights out of Logan Airport, Boston until recent years. Named after the Ballard side of the family (Robert) and a family friend, Gordon Goss. Bob was the youngest in the family and the only one who didn't have to do any chores. A born drummer, he dented all his mother's pots and pans. He played in the Everett High School band and the American Legion band, was a Boy Scout and co-captain of the Everett High track team. He graduated Everett High school June 6, 1944, and was an avid follower of the Crimson Tide football team. During the summer months he traveled extensively throughout North America to view Drum & Bugle corps competitions.
Services will conclude with Military Honors in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob's name may be made to: www.diabetes.org/donate/ .
