Obituary

Robert C. Benoit (74), of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on July 30th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Bob, the eldest son of Irene and Bernard Benoit, was born and raised in Everett, MA with his four siblings and many cousins. He later made his homes in Lynnfield, Middleton, and Ipswich, MA, and finally retired to his happy place, Fort Lauderdale.

After attending Boston's Cathedral High School and Northeastern University, Bob married Diane (LeClair) Benoit and had two daughters, Lauren and Carolyn. He taught his girls to be adventurous and to always follow their dreams. Amongst many other professions, Bob was a dedicated Everett firefighter from 1978 to 2009, an established real estate broker, owning his own companies including Century 21 Northshore and Benoit Real Estate Group, and finally an attorney who was passionate about giving a voice to those in need. He later married Lorraine (Baer) Benoit and together they spent 10 beautiful years traveling, cooking, and enjoying the arts, especially the theater. Bob, always the life of the party, made friends everywhere he went and made sure to include everyone, whether it was for his Sunday chicken dinners or his Benoit shuffle dance parties. In his later years, Bob was a proud grandpa to his three granddaughters, always looking forward to their next visit to Florida.

Bob was welcomed into Heaven by his beautiful sister Elaine Carter. He is survived by his daughter Lauren Vavoulidis, her husband Frank, and their two daughters, Giorgianna and Sophia, of Easton, CT, his daughter Carolyn Benoit, her partner Dan, and their daughter Emelia of Lynnfield, MA, his beloved sister Janice Cawley of Peabody, MA, his best friend of over 40 years, John Collier of Harvard, MA, his brother John Benoit and sister Lois Hannabury-Deno, his caring cousins, nieces, and nephews, and so many dear friends who were like family.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours at the JF Ward Funeral Home, 772 Broadway, Everett, on Monday, August 5th from 4-7 pm, followed by a funeral from the funeral home on Tuesday, August 6th at 10 am with a funeral Mass celebrated in Our Lady of Grace Church, 194 Nichols St., Everett-Chelsea line at 11 am.
