Obituary

Linden Alexander Wint [Sabu, Babu] was born on October 18, 1952 to Elfreda Lewis and Kenneth Wint in Kingston, Jamaica. He was adopted as a young child by Mrs. Millward Lawrence and moved to Salt Spring, in the parish of St. James. He attended Salt Spring All Age School for his early education before going to Holmwood Technical High School in Christiana, in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica. After graduation he worked for a few years at National Water Commission (then called National Water Authority Lab) in Kingston, before enrolling in the College of Arts, Science & Technology (CAST now known as U. Tech). He later taught at the Herbert Morrison Technical High School in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

He was an avid sportsman playing football (soccer) and cricket for his college and clubs. Linden was a member of the Salt Spring Youth Organization (S.S.Y.O). He also assisted coaching the high school sports teams. He could frequently be seen riding his motorcycle (slowly) from Salt Spring to Montego Bay. It was during this time at S.S.Y.O that he met his future wife, Arlene Washington.

In December 1982, he migrated to the United States. His wife and their two children, Stacy-Ann and Wainwright [Greg], later joined him in Boston, MA. He worked at Boston Scientific (formerly Meditech) for 16 years moving up the ranks from Production Assembler to Associate Manufacturing Engineer. He also worked the night shift for a short period at Raytheon. During this time, his 3 rd child, Kevin, was born. He later earned his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in 2000. From 2003 – 2013 he switched careers, working as an Environmental Specialist/Technician at Onyx Environmental Services, then Environmental Quality Inc. until he became ill. Over the last three years of his life, he faithfully volunteered at area food pantries including the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House and Cambridge Economic Opportunity Committee, Inc (C.E.O.C).

Linden was famous for his spirited discussions and debates especially on politics, sports, and  religion - all topics he was passionate about. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Vivian and Solomon. He is also survived by his wife, Arlene; children Stacy-Ann Wint, Wainwright (Kedar) Wint and Kevin Wint; mother Miss Freda of Florida; siblings Elizabeth (Dalton) Pringle of Florida, Osmond Nisbeth of New York, Meloney Nisbeth of Florida; nieces Sutana (Andrei) Anisimov, Rachel Pringle, Meloney Pringle; nephews Kareem (Kima) Pringle, Hanif Carroll; and their children. He is also survived by cousins, other family members including Aunt Jenny Lawrence, Lydwin Morris, Ripton Morris [Harry], Garnett, Christopher, Ardith, Ermine and Isbert Clarke, and best friend Delroy [Willy] Fender in Jamaica, Canada, and across the United States. Among the friends are  many members of the Cambridge Seventh Day Adventist Church who have embraced him for over a decade as he rededicated his life to the SDA community.
