John B. Benoit-Of Wilmington, Massachusetts, passed away on July 11th, 2026 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 63.
John, the youngest child of Irene and Bernard Benoit, was born and raised in Everett, MA with his four siblings. John attended Our Lady of Grace School in Everett and graduated from Northeast Regional High School in Wakefield. After high school, John enlisted in the Air Force.
After his service in the Air Force, John returned home and joined the family legacy and became an Everett firefighter, like his father and older brother before him. John lived life to the fullest. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoying many trips to the White Mountains with his wife Cindy, where the two would ride together side by side. John enjoyed travel, boating and live music. John loved gardening, birdwatching, and spending time on various home improvement projects, at which he excelled. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 136 in Wilmington.
John’s pride and joy in life were his two children, Amanda Benoit of Chester, PA and Matthew Benoit of Dedham. Amanda shares many of the same interests of her dad, like travelling, motorcycles, birdwatching, and gardening. They also enjoyed many trips to the White Mountains together. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Matthew is a firefighter for the city of Cambridge and also joined the military serving in the Coast Guard after high school. Matt also enjoyed many trips to the White Mountains with his father. Matt’s fondest memories with his dad were the many fishing expeditions they shared.
John is survived by his wife, Cynthia Evans Benoit, his daughter Amanda Benoit of Chester, PA, his son Matthew Benoit of Dedham, his sister Lois Hannabury-Deno, and her husband Joe Deno of St. Augustine FL, and sister Janice Cawley of Peabody. He is predeceased by his sister Elaine Carter of Michigan and brother Bob Benoit of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by many dear family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours at the JF Ward Funeral Home, 772 Broadway, Everett, on Wednesday, July 15th, from 4 to 8 pm.
