Obituary


Janet  Marie Callahan was born in Stoneham Massachusetts  on August 14  1953. Her parents Leo and Dorothy welcomed her  as the  third of 4 children. She grew up on Kenmere Rd in Medford Massachusetts where she attended Immaculate Conception School and Girls Catholic High School in Malden.  She also attended Bunker Hill Community College.

Janet held positions of responsibility at several area companies including AliMed,  Boston Retail and most recently Mass Citizens for Life where she held the position of Director of Special Projects.

She was very active in her Parish  at Immaculate Conception in Malden  organizing a prayer group,  as a Lector and  Religious Education teacher. She also dedicated much of her time  as Director of the Rose Campaign for the Mass Citizens  for Life. She also organized the local effort  the Right to Life march on Washington.

Janet had a passion for photography and genealogy, Her real passion however,  was for her 14 nieces and nephews  who enjoyed being around her and  hearing her take on stories of their growing up and also  going on special activities. She also enjoyed passing on fascinating facts she would unearth  through her tracing of family hi stories, of not just her own family but those of friends too. Her photography naturally focused on her nieces and nephews capturing and celebrating their lives.

She leaves behind sisters; Cheryl Guiry of Everett, Eileen Mugavero  and Brother in Law Nat of Lawrence,  brother Rod Callahan and Sister in Law Gwen of Holden. Neices and Nephews  Monica Boudreau  and husband Marty,  Brian Guiry and wife Sandy; Glenna, Elizabeth and Daniel Mugavero; Ian Callahan and wife Colleen,   Addison Barwise and husband Tim, Parker Callahan. Grand Nieces and Nephews  Jason and Rachel Boudreau, Tommy and Robyn Guiry, Augustine and Edith Mae Callahan.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral from the Ward Funeral Home 772 Broadway, Everett, MA  on Thursday February 5 th at 9:30 am  followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church 600 Pleasant St Malden at 11am. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 pm.  Internment at Woodlawn Cemetery Everett.  In her memory, donations should be made to; Mass Citizens for Life 529 Main St Suite 1M9 Boston MA 02129 or  masscitizensforlife.org
