James "Jim" N. Sampson, 85 of Malden, MA passed away on 4/12/20.
Jim was born to James and Veronica Sampson of New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was raised in New Waterford before joining the Canadian Navy at 16 years old. After his service in the Canadian Navy he moved to Portland, Maine and joined the US Army, serving in Korea. After being discharged Jim became a firefighter in Portland, ME until moving to Boston in the mid-1960s.
In 1956 he married the love of his life, Sandra Parker, and the two spent 36 years together raising 5 children, before her passing in 1992 from Cancer.
Jim started working for the USPS in 1967 until his retirement in 1996.
Jim is survived by his daughters Victoria Forbes and her husband Michael, Julie Schurko and her husband Brian and his son Mark Sampson, as well as nine grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Angus Sampson and his wife Julia, his sister Muriel Tibbetts and her husband Richard and his brother Bobby Sampson and his wife Kathy.
Jim was predeceased by his son James "Jay" P. Sampson, his daughter Lisa D'Andrea, and grandson Kenneth Estee as well as his brothers Alphonse "Bookie" Sampson, Patrick Sampson, his sister Margaret Muise and sister Veronica Joanne MacNeil.
Jim was a quiet, gentle man who was loved by many. He adored family and it meant everything to him. He enjoyed watching sports and collecting the memorabilia along with it. His favorite time was being around his grandchildren. His kindness earned him the name 'Gramps' to many that were not even his own grand kids.
A funeral service will be held for Jim on Monday, October 5th in the Funeral Home at 11am, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
