Gloria Bruxelles, 92, of Hockessin, formerly of Winthrop, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Thursday May 19, 2016. Gloria was born on March 20, 1924 to the late Pascal and Agnes Bruxelles (Dunn) in East Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Girls High School of Boston in 1941. Gloria aided the WW II effort and joined what is now the Defense Logistics Agency as a civilian employee in 1943, working there for more than thirty years.
Gloria was a resident of Winthrop, MA for the past 41 years prior to moving to Hockessin in 2015 to be with family. She was a long time parishioner of St. Lazarus parish in East Boston. She enjoyed gardening, reading, music, following politics and staying active at the Winthrop Senior Center where she led exercise classes.
Her parents, her brother Gregory N. Bruxelles and his wife Mary, and nephew Paul J. Bruxelles predeceased Gloria. She is survived by her niece Mary Bruxelles, nephew Gregory M. Bruxelles and wife Gina, great niece Denise Bruxelles-Griffin and husband Edward, great nephew Mark Bruxelles, niece Michele Bruxelles and great nieces Annie Bruxelles and Katie Bruxelles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Hockessin on Wednesday May 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St.,Everett, MA on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.
