George Ward Strahan Sr.-A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024, at the age of 96. He was a lifelong resident of Everett.
He was the loving husband of the late Marjorie (Welch) Strahan, his high school sweetheart, in which he shared 45 years of marriage. George was the brother to the late Marguerite Kelly, Howard Strachan, and Thomas Strachan. He is survived by his brother Monsignor Francis Strahan, along with many nieces and nephews.
George is survived by his five loving children. Debra Mastrocola and husband Edward of Wenham, George Strahan Jr and wife Julie of Springfield OH, Kevin Strahan of Everett, Colleen Pescatore and husband Michael of Peabody, and Paul Strahan and wife Christine of Tewksbury. "Pa" to Lisa, Erica, Edward, Michael, Anthony, Natalie, Rayna, Katelyn, Zachary, Christina, Jessica, and Joe. George also had five great grandchildren whom he adored dearly.
George was a veteran of the US Army and honorably served during the Korean War, in which he was stationed in Germany in 1951. He had a lengthy career working for Boston Stove and eventually owned the Minute Market in Somerville, creating many memories with his family.
George enjoyed spending time with his family at "Pa parties", going out to breakfast, sitting outside working on his tan, watching his grandchildren play sports, and taking rides to the South Shore for bar pizza. But the highlight of his week was always going down to Dunks with his friends. George will be very missed by all who knew him.
