Obituary

Simione, Elizabeth Etta-Of Somerville passed away peacefully at home on May 5 th , 2020, in the arms of her loving mother and father John and Holly (Sermos) Simione, and her beloved sister Ava, while they sang her favorite soothing song.

Treasured granddaughter of Kemon and Sybil (Falk) Sermos of Andover, formerly Somerville, and the late George and Mary (Scopa) Simione of Somerville. Great niece of Ralph and Barbara Scopa of Medford.

Cherished niece of Evan and Ann Sermos of Andover, Richard and Valerie Simione of Reading, and George and Lisa Simione of Nashua NH.

She was loved by her cousins Caitlin Dotolo, Lauren Donahue, and Evan Sermos Jr.

Elizabeth loved life, and treasured every moment spent with her best friend and protector, Ava. They did everything together including team sports, watching movies, listening to music and even remote learning. When the Malden West District 12 Challenger team was chosen to play at the Little League World series, Ava was her "buddy", helping her hit the ball, and "rolling" to each base. Despite Elizabeth's hearing loss, she was an excellent listener. She knew exactly when her Daddy was home from work before his lips kissed her cheek, or he whispered in her ear asking about her day. She would simply turn in his direction with a wide smile and a giggle.

She thrived as a student at The Perkins School in Watertown. They understood her true potential and worked tirelessly to support and encourage her which brought much joy to her life. She was silly at school, and at times a punk. She loved her many teachers and students, yet shared a special bond with her classmate Andrew, who held her hand at the prom in 2018.

She loved listening to birds sing, a cool breeze on her cheeks, rain dropping from the sky, the tap of a fork against a glass, Carla playing the piano, swimming with her family and friends, bowling, sky diving, kisses from her Daddy, bike riding with Alicia, vacations with Jenny, music with Andrew, art with Courtney, and the love and kindness from so many nurses and doctors who cared for her.

There will be a private viewing at the JF Ward Funeral Home, 772 Broadway, Everett on Tuesday at 11 am, followed by a graveside service in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden at 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Elizabeth Etta Simione Memorial Fund, c/o Winter Hill Bank, 342 Broadway, Somerville, MA 02145. Funds will be used to support families caring for Medically Complex children and the many charitable organizations that improved Elizabeth's life.
