Edward J O'Connell Jr, retired MBTA motorman of Everett, died December 15, 2019 after battling a long illness.

Beloved husband to Lois O'Connell for 61 years.  Son of the late Edward and Mary, he is also pre-deceased by two sons John and Kevin and by his sister Mary Goodchild of Hollis NH.

He is survived by son James and his wife Marjorie of Middleton, and grandchildren Eric, Austin, and Kaitlyn. He also leaves behind a brother Frank and his wife Weeda of Alexandria, LA.

Edward enjoyed a long retirement from the MBTA where he worked as a motorman on the Orange and Blue lines.  During retirement, he and Lois enjoyed a snowbird's life, escaping many New England winters to the warmth of Florida. Edward was a huge fan of the Red Sox and enjoyed thoroughbred racing where he was a regular attendee at Suffolk Downs. A dual parishioner of Our Lady of Grace and The Immaculate Conception churches, he will be greatly missed.
