Edward Patsy
Costantino
May 26, 1947 — May 1, 2020
Edward Patsy Costantino, age 72, a resident of Lynn for 40 years, died suddenly of a devastating brain hemorrhage caused by a stroke at MGH on Friday, May 1, 2020. He was the husband of Kathleen (Moritz) Costantino for over 40 years.
Born in Everett, he was the oldest son of Edward S. and Rose (Venezia) Costantino. Raised on Shute Street in Everett, MA, he and his wife moved to Lynn in 1978 to raise their family.
Mr. Costantino had retired from his career as a mail carrier in Boston after 30 years in 2013, and was a Sergeant in the Air Force during the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his service to his country.
Ed was also proud to be the father of three children, Jennifer, Ed Jr., and Luke. There are no words for how thrilled he was to be a grandfather of Jupiter Azalea Costantino, his only grandchild. Now a 21 year old woman, nothing made her "Papa" happier than when he could put a smile on her face.
Ed is also survived by his siblings, brother Stephen Costantino and sister-in-law Mary of Everett, and Mary Staffiery of Lynn. Life-long buddies, Stephen and Eddie shared the same birthday, and his sister Mary raised her family in the apartment above his on Red Rock Street in Lynn with her husband David. The three's children grew up together and were lucky enough to share their childhood with the Costantino's huge extended family of aunties, uncles, and cousins. Ed's wife's brother, Bob Moritz, Bob's wife Dee, Bob's sister Mary Bradshaw and her husband Bruce were greatly loved by him and he will leave a huge hole in their hearts with his passing.
Ed may have only had Jupiter as a grandkid, but he was known as "Papa Eddie" to the generation of kids who grew up on Red Rock Street with her. He was also lovingly referred to as the Mayor of Red Rock, as he was known and loved by everyone. Ed Costantino was one of the most positive men on planet Earth, always there to lend a hand, full of joking, laughter, and compliments to share with those around him. Ed's generosity of spirit made everyone feel welcome in his life. From the spouses of his nieces and nephews to the parents of his neighbors to his granddaughters friends, he made you feel like you were a part of his group and he was happy to have you there. He had a huge group of friends that he'd known since childhood, all still very much in contact with each other, including Wednesday night gatherings to play pool that were a long standing tradition.
Ed Costantino loved and was loved by so very many people. Due to the current conditions brought about by COVID-19, not nearly enough people would be able to come to any gathering for him, so his family would like to extend an invitation for a future "Celebration of Life" to be held when the pandemic is under control. He would not want anyone to be left out and neither would his family. Updates will be provided as the situation progresses.
