Dora Marie (McDonough) Glancy, a longtime Everett resident, passed away peacefully on June 19th, 2024, at 100 years of age surrounded by love. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert F. Glancy with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. Loving mother of Diane Randall and her late husband Robert F. Randall of Melrose and her fiance Kevin B. Lee, Robert F. Glancy and his wife Michele of Newton, NH, and Paul Glancy and his wife Robin of Oakland, CA. Loving Nana to seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the last of the McDonough Clan, preceded in death by her sisters Agnes MacRae, Effie "Bunny" Mullowney, Margaret Anderson, and brothers George McDonough, Daniel McDonough, and John McDonough. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dora was born on August 24, 1923, and was a woman of great faith who lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was an inspiration to all who had the honor of knowing and loving her. She was forever a positive person, always choosing happiness, and will be remembered as a living example of compassion, patience, and joy. A talented dancer, Dora was 'Dancing in the Kitchen' well into her 90's. She worked at Maton Gaulin, which is where she met her husband Albert, and then at Grover Manor Hospital as a nurses' aid for many years. An avid candlepin bowler and winner of many trophies, bowling became a fun family activity with her children and grandchildren. She was a prolific knitter, making over 35 Rose Afghans to keep her family warm in addition to donating many of them to church charities.
Dora was known for her warm heart and generous spirit. She brightened every gathering with her infectious humor and occasional spontaneous dances, bringing smiles to all who knew her. She will be remembered fondly for the enduring love she shared with her family and friends. A small private service to celebrate Dora's life will be held by her immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind in memory of Dora.
