Charles "Charlie" A. Thistle, 90, of Melrose passed peacefully on October 28 th , 2022. He was the son of William "Harry" and Hazel (Moores) Thistle of the Island of Newfoundland, Canada. Born on March 6, 1932 in Chelsea, MA, he graduated cum laude in 1954 from Northeastern University College of Business. After graduation, he joined the US Army and served as an instructor in Artillery and Small ARMs until 1956. He then went on to be a merchandise buyer and furniture store manager for over 40 years.
Charlie was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline A. (Hiscock)Thistle for 54 years. He leaves behind his daughter Donna and husband Kevin Duncan of Georgetown, his sons Charles Thistle, Jr. and wife Kristin of Augusta, and Steven Thistle and wife Barbara Thistle of So. Weymouth. He is survived by his eight loving grandchildren and eight beloved great-grandchildren.
Later in life, Charlie married Anna Deas and enjoyed 11 years of retirement together until her passing on June 8, 2022.
He is predeceased by his brothers Henry and Roy. Charlie loved being with his family and sharing their favorite activities such as boating, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral at the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel, 302 Elm St., Everett on Friday, November 4th at 11 a.m. Services will conclude interment at the Cemetery.
